A LITTLE MORE CLARITY.
Sharpen your photo.
Make soft photos look clearer. Adjust the strength, compare the results, and download at original or approved smaller dimensions. Free, private, and entirely browser-based.
A clearer edge, without a new image.
This tool uses unsharp masking: it compares your original photo with a softly blurred copy and gently emphasizes the difference. A small noise threshold and restrained edge enhancement help avoid harsh results.
It works best on photos that look a little soft. It cannot reliably restore a severely out-of-focus image, undo motion blur, or invent missing detail. An already sharp photo may look best with little or no extra sharpening.
Need a smaller file afterward? Use Compress Image. For iPhone HEIC files, first use HEIC to JPG or HEIC to PNG.
Good to know
Will the download keep my original dimensions?
Photos within the processing limits keep their original dimensions. For a larger photo, a dialog recommends smaller dimensions before any resizing happens. Accept that size, choose your own proportional dimensions, or cancel. If you approve resizing, the sharpened download uses those dimensions. Reset sharpening removes the sharpening effect but keeps your approved working size. We honor the image’s orientation, and your original file stays unchanged. Extremely large files may still require a smaller copy before this browser can open them safely.
Which file format will I download?
The original format is used when your browser supports encoding it. JPG and WebP use high-quality encoding; PNG preserves transparency. If your browser cannot write WebP, we show a PNG fallback before downloading. JPG and WebP are re-encoded, so even strength zero is not a byte-for-byte copy.
Are my photos stored or uploaded?
No. Photos and previews stay in temporary browser memory. We do not upload them, store them in a database, or keep them in browser storage. Choosing another photo, refreshing, or leaving the tool releases its photo references. Your downloaded copies remain under your control. See our privacy policy.
What happens to metadata and animated images?
We create a new still image from decoded pixels, without copying original EXIF, GPS, or other source metadata. This is an sRGB photo tool, not a professional color-profile editor. Animated PNG and WebP are not supported.
